Baggage is one of the first things Pakistani travellers check before booking a flight to Saudi Arabia. If you're flying with Riyadh Air, the good news is that every economy fare we've seen on Pakistan routes includes checked baggage. Economy passengers get 25 kg, 30 kg or 35 kg, depending on the fare.
This guide explains the Riyadh Air baggage allowance for flights from Islamabad and Lahore: what each fare includes, what you can carry on board, how to add extra baggage, and how to choose the right fare for your trip.

Riyadh Air economy baggage allowance at a glance
These are the allowances shown on Riyadh Air economy fares for Pakistan routes on ApnaTicket as of November 2026:
| Economy fare | Checked baggage | Cabin bag | Personal item |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lite | 25 kg | 7 kg | 5 kg |
| Smart | 30 kg | 7 kg | 5 kg |
| Flex | 35 kg | 7 kg | 5 kg |
That means even the lowest economy fare gives you 37 kg in total: 25 kg checked, 7 kg in your cabin bag and 5 kg in your personal item. Flex takes that total to 47 kg.
Airline rules can change, so always check the baggage shown on your fare before paying.
How the weight concept works
On these routes, Riyadh Air's allowance is shown in kilograms rather than a number of bags. This is known as the weight concept. What matters is the total weight of your checked baggage, not how many pieces you bring.
For example, with a 30 kg Smart fare you could check one 30 kg bag, or split the same weight across two bags of 18 kg and 12 kg. Two lighter bags are often easier to lift, and they can also help you stay under any limit on a single bag.
Third-party baggage guides report that no single checked bag should weigh more than 32 kg. That mostly matters if you've bought extra baggage, so split heavier loads across two bags and confirm the limit with the airline.
Riyadh Air cabin baggage rules
Every economy fare we've seen includes two items on board:
- Cabin bag: up to 7 kg.
- Personal item: up to 5 kg, such as a laptop bag or handbag.
Third-party guides report maximum sizes of about 56 × 36 × 23 cm for the cabin bag and 45 × 35 × 25 cm for the personal item. Check the current limits with Riyadh Air if your bag is close to those sizes.
Tip: keep medicines, passports, your iqama or visa papers, money and valuables in your personal item. If a cabin bag has to be checked at the gate on a busy flight, your essentials stay with you.
Premium Economy and Business baggage
Riyadh Air's premium cabins are reported to carry higher allowances. We haven't confirmed these on Pakistan fares, so use them as a guide only:
| Cabin | Reported checked baggage | Reported cabin bag |
|---|---|---|
| Premium Economy | 35–45 kg, depending on fare | 12 kg |
| Business | 45–65 kg, depending on fare | 15 kg |

Lite, Smart or Flex: which should you choose?
The right fare depends on how much you carry, and on the fare rules you need. Baggage is only one part of the difference, so check change and refund conditions before you pay.
- Lite (25 kg): good for short trips, business travel and solo travellers who pack light.
- Smart (30 kg): a sensible middle option for family visits, or workers returning with a few extra items.
- Flex (35 kg): useful for longer stays, heavy bags, or trips where your dates may change.
Do the maths first. If you need 30 kg, compare two options: a Smart fare, or a Lite fare plus 5 kg of extra baggage. If you need 35 kg, compare Flex with Smart plus 5 kg. Fare differences change from flight to flight, so neither option is always cheaper.
Three common trips, and what to pick
- A three-day business trip to Riyadh: Lite is usually enough. Your 7 kg cabin bag may even cover everything, so you might not need to check a bag at all.
- A worker returning after a month at home: food and gifts add weight quickly, so weigh your bags first. If you're close to 30 kg, compare Smart with Lite plus extra baggage.
- A family visit with shopping on the way home: check the allowance for each traveller separately, and think about the return journey as well. It's often the heavier direction.
Buying extra Riyadh Air baggage
Need more than your fare includes? Third-party guides report these rules for buying extra baggage from Riyadh Air:
- Extra baggage is sold in blocks of 5 kg.
- Buying online in advance can be up to 30% cheaper than paying at the airport.
- Online purchases are reported to close about four hours before departure.
- Prices change by flight, and prepaid baggage is generally non-refundable unless the airline cancels the flight.
The main lesson is simple: weigh your bags at home and pay before you reach the airport. Excess baggage at the check-in counter is usually the most expensive way to carry extra weight. When you book on ApnaTicket, check whether extra baggage is offered for your flight during checkout.
Baggage tips for Pakistan to Saudi Arabia flights
- Weigh your bags at home. A small luggage scale pays for itself quickly.
- Leave room for the journey home. Gifts, dates and shopping add up fast.
- Pack heavy items low in the bag, near the wheels, so it stays stable.
- Label every bag with your name, phone number and destination address.
- Photograph your bags before check-in. It helps if a bag is delayed.
- Check Saudi customs rules before packing food, medicines or anything unusual. Keep prescriptions with any medicines you carry.
- Avoid fragile packaging for pickles and oils. Seal them well, or leave them out if your bag might leak.
Travelling with children, sports equipment or Zamzam
Children and infants: allowances can differ by passenger type. Check what's shown for each traveller on your booking, especially for an infant without a seat, and ask about a stroller before you fly.
Sports equipment: Riyadh Air publishes separate guidelines for sports equipment. Read them before bringing golf clubs, bicycles or other large items.
Zamzam water: we couldn't confirm Riyadh Air's rule for Zamzam, so ask the airline before you travel if you plan to bring it home. Don't assume it travels free, or that it can go in your normal checked bag.
Do Riyadh Air connecting flights get the same baggage?
Riyadh Air fares we've seen from Lahore to Jeddah and Dubai show the same economy allowances: 25 kg, 30 kg or 35 kg. If your journey involves a connection, confirm whether your baggage is checked through to your final destination, and keep a change of clothes in your cabin bag.
Connecting beyond Riyadh on another airline? The allowance on that flight may be different, so check every part of your journey.
